I've lived in the North East for 14 years now and have discovered some great photo locations, from quiet beaches to impressive castles; from modern artworks to Roman forts. There are also plenty of places I'd still like to visit, some well-known, but many hidden gems as well.

New Project: Empty Rooms

I love Belsay Hall in Northumberland because there's very little in it and you can go off exploring the rooms, staircases and cellars and imagine what it would have been like to live there, without being interrupted by keen volunteers eager to give you a detailed history of the place and placards telling you all about tapestries and furnishings.

I've just returned from a fantastic 3-week trip to South East Asia and am now sorting through the thousands of photos that I took on my trip. Where in the world?

Having just come back from a lovely tip to Krakow in Poland (pictures here), I was thinking about where I've travelled and where I'd go back. Trip Advisor have a handy map for you to record the places you've been. As you can see, my destinations are all very UK and Europe-centred, but then I am very lucky - some of my favourite places in the world are in my own country!

Loads of wildlife spotted on a 2 week holiday to Mull and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Featuring pine martens licking peanut butter sandwiches off a window, a bouncing mouse and a wild pig crossing the road!

New Project: Always Get a Window Seat
